How To Cook Katsudon

Last weekend, I finally had a chance to cook for my family. After long months of waiting, I was able to face again the kitchen and try out something new. Months ago my colleagues taught me how to cook Katsudon – a Japanese recipe made of rice with breaded toppings. So, I went to my in-laws, all geared up with the ingredients that I need. It took me 2 hours to complete 9 bowls of Katsudon for dinner. Not bad for a first-timer in this recipe. The challenge for me is how to blend the sweet and salty taste of the sauce by mixing sugar and soy sauce. It’s the kind of taste that lingers in your taste buds making you crave for more rice.

I’m sharing the recipe in case you also want to try it out:

3 1/2 cups of steamed Japanese rice (I used any available rice at home)
4 pieces of tonkatsu (breaded pork chop which you can prepare or buy a ready-to-cook from the supermarket)
1 piece of onion bulb
1 ¼ cups of dashi soup stock
5 tablespoon of soy sauce
2 tablespoon of mirin (A Japanese wine)
1 tablespoon of sugar
4 pieces of eggs (That makes 1 egg per bowl)

Marc Jacobs Spring 2011 Collection

I’ve been browsing for a couple of days searching for hand bags and purses since I’m planning to buy one for my birthday. Look what I’ve found! Marc Jacobs Spring Collection for 2011. I rustled over a few photos of the hand bags and I drooled not only on the authentic designs but also on the prices. But hey, we’re talking about Marc Jacobs here – the Chief Designer of Louis Vuitton.

Jacobs showcased his 2011 Collection last September 13, 2010 and it depicted the bright shades of autumn with dark yellow, burnt orange, brown and plum. I know that after the preview from New York Fashion Week, Marc Jacobs’ collection is one of the most desired by the Fashionistas all over the world.

So here are some of the hand bags in his collection that I managed to download, print and clip at my dresser.
